Public Hearing and Regular Monthly Meeting to be Held October 17

posted Oct 14, 2016, 7:51 AM by Ryan Biles
The Lonoke Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 6:00 pm on October 17th prior to the regular monthly meeting for October.  When an application for conditional use permit is submitted, a public hearing is required for the benefit of neighbors and commissioners who wish to understand more about the applicant's plans for the property.  The public notice appears below as advertised in a local publication, per the requirements of the law:

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Lonoke Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing regarding the issuance of a Conditional Use Permit at 717 W Academy to allow for a Daycare Family Home.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at 6:00 p.m. on the 17th day of October, 2016, at 107 West 2nd Street, the Commission will hear any comments and concerns regarding these issues. The Planning Commission will also hold its regular October meeting directly following this public hearing.

The particular application which is the subject of the public hearing is a request from a homeowner to increase the capacity of a particular in-home childcare operation (currently operating under the provisions of the Unified Development Code as a "Residential Home Day Care") such that enrollment would prospectively be increased to a maximum capacity of ten (10) children and thereby be classified as a "Daycare Family Home," the requirements of which were recently revised by the Planning Commission and approved by City Council via an update to the Unified Development Code.  A new provision of the revised code allows a Daycare Family Home to operate in R-1 as a conditional use.  Following the public hearing, the Planning & Zoning Commission will convene for the regular monthly meeting to consider the conditional use application at hand.  This is the only item on the regular monthly meeting agenda.

Citizens of all the neighborhoods in Lonoke should expect their Planning & Zoning Commission to uphold the core value of "welcoming public input with a collaborative spirit."  It is the Commission's honor to serve all of our neighbors and welcome you to each monthly meeting and public hearing.  When you arrive, your Commission will be prepared to hear your voice.
