Your Lonoke Planning Commission is pleased to report that an update to the Unified Development Code has been UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED and referred to City Council for adoption.  This update will increase the cap to 7 children for childcare establishments meeting the definition of 'Residential Home Day Care' (p.111), and establish a range of 8 to 16 children for establishments meeting the definition of 'Day Care Family Home' (p.102).  The Commission also voted to permit a 'Day Care Family Home' in R-1 zoning districts by Conditional Use, which would require consideration by the Commission on a case-by-case basis.
The revisions will appear on the agenda for the September 12, 2016 Lonoke City Council meeting where the approved language will be presented for adoption by the Council.

The Planning Commission also approved an application for residential construction on Kayla Lane.

Finally, the Commission reviewed case studies of gateway and wayfinding signage examples currently installed in regional cities, pursuant to the Commission's ongoing conversation regarding placemaking, in tandem with work underway by Lonoke Industrial Development Commission and the independent "Kick Start Lonoke" initiative.  During the discussion of materials presented, the Commission concluded that a driving tour to assess existing signage and potential signage locations around town should be undertaken by a study committee.

The presentation of planning elements and signage examples is uploaded as a PDF at the bottom of this page.

The September regular monthly meeting will be held Monday, September 19 at 6:30 pm.  Applications and agenda items are due the Monday prior to the meeting on September 12.
